World Environment Day with de-junk artists
To celebrate World Environment Day and the begining of our show, we are giving a tour of the exhibits with as many of the artists as possible at 10.30 am on Saturday the 8th of June within the exhibition at The Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead, very near Oxton on the corner of Balls Road and Slatey Road.
Plenty parking, fully accessible, cafe on bus route. Nearest Train station is Birkenhead Park or Conway Park (but to be honest not terribly close - my choice would be to come to Birkenhead Park station and walk through the beautiful Birkenhead Park towards the exit near University Academy, Cross Road and head up Slatey Road - but that will be a good 20 minutes walk).

Newcomer to de-junk, re-junk Gill Alleyne
From Gill Alleyne:-
" I'm expecting to be further inspired by the fab artists and makers who are entering work in de-junk, re-junk, as last year was just so amazing. I'm hoping to get more confidence in creating my own artwork. I became involved because I attended one of the de-junk workshops last year ran with a grant from the Merseyside Recycling and Waste Authority held in the Green Community Centre and Shop in Oxton. It introduced me to a whole new way of doing things that as a science teacher I had never considered. When I was at my lowest, the world of art and textiles gave me a huge lift! And now I am half way through a foundation diploma following a Sunday afternoon workshop with de-junk and now a contributing artist to this year's exhibition"

"de-junk, re-junk! 2013"
We are moving to Gallery One in the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead for de-junk, re-junk! and the new works will be on display from the 8th of June until 7th of July with over 30 artists submitting works made from recycled paper, motorbike parts, paraquet floors, glass from broken bus shelters etc.
We are hoping to have an exciting programme of tours by the artists and as usual our creative table of junk for you to take some "rubbish" away with you to change and transform into your own de-junk creation.
In the exhibition, there will be large and small works, conceptual pieces and installations, craft work and paintings from the 35 artists. Many of the pieces will be for sale.
Additionally, The Williamson Art Gallery are hosting, Robyn Woolston, winner of the 2012 Liverpool Art Prize and currently exhibiting in the Walker Art Gallery with her installation "Strangers In A Strange Land", for a week long residency in the gallery.
There are also 2 other exhibitions by local artists on at the same time at the Williamson namely -Matthew Thomas - photographer and Stephen Collett showing painted portraiture.

Roy Lewis: Latest commission
Roy Lewis was recently commissioned to create a Bull's head by a local restaurant in Heswall, Beef Grill and Bar. He created it from exhausts, re-enforcing bars, flat sheet of metal salvaged from a friend's old cooker, a suzuki bandit brake disc, a landrover con-rod big end, some subaru gears, Ford Thunderbird bumper bolts, Yamaha RD350Lc exhausts....and the parts list goes on...
Hoping we will get something along these lines for de-junk, re-junk 2013 in the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead
